The ceasefire lines established between the new state of Israel and its Arab neighbors—Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Egypt—after the Nakba. Sometimes referred to as the “pre-1967 borders” or the “Green Line”. The ceasefires left Israel controlling 78% of historic Palestine, in contrast to the 6% of land owned by Jewish organizations and individuals at the time.[1] The lines are generally viewed as the “internationally recognized” borders of Israel, though Israel has never officially declared its borders.
