BDS (boycott, divestment sanctions) is a Palesinian-led movement to hold Israel accountable to international law. The BDS call—issued in 2005 and endorsed by a broad cross-section of Palestinian civil society groups—asks individuals and grassroots organizations around the world to adopt boycott, divestment, and sanctions campaigns as a strategy to build pressure on Israel to comply with its obligations under international law to:[1]
- End the occupation and dismantle the wall.
- Recognize the right of Palestinian citizens of Israel to full equality.
- Respect, protect and promote the right of Palestinian refugees to return.
